10 Must-Have Gifts from Outdoorsy Artists for the Holidays

If you’re like me, you’ll be spending this next month scouring the internet for that perfect gift to give each of your loved ones. Luckily, gone are the days of just grabbing any old thing off Amazon to gift, and hellooo to getting that cute, unique product made by someone you know or enjoy following online.

I love this time of year and get so excited to see everything that everyone has been working on the past few months. As an artist, I know just how much work goes into creating products - so much time and energy spent behind the scenes making everything just perfect, and then hoping that people love it as much as you do!

So, with this blog post, I’m hoping to help some makers market their product a little bit extra, so that you can easily see who is doing some amazing work.

Below, I compiled a current list of artists/adventurers I think are doing awesome work. With a focus on outdoorsy artists, I’ve looked through tons of products (although there are so many, I’ve in no way hit them all) and included the art products I think are ✨MUST HAVES✨ for gifting in 2021, that you can use in the snow or in the house this winter:)

How did I choose?

For this list, I chose artists who:

  • make adventure/outdoorsy-type products or gear

  • I respect and enjoy watching their content

  • are being innovative or making products that are different

  • seem super passionate about what they’re creating

  • are in North America and have items available in their shop, so buying & shipping is easier

  • are just plain making cool stuff!

And honestly, there are so many artists that I didn’t name here that do such amazing work, so hopefully, this motivates you to look for more!

Here they are (in no particular order)…

1 . Taylor Dawn “Two Far From Home”

My Fave Product: Polymer Clay Landscape Earrings

Insta: @twofarfromhome

It’s hard to find items that are totally new and different and I found Taylor’s stuff to be incredibly unique. She makes one-of-a-kind polymer clay earrings that look JUST like tiny portraits, it’s actually insane! Most of her work is custom-made so you should definitely get on her list soon.

2. Maude Raymond

My Fave Product: New MAAD Mitt Papaya Crush!

Insta: @maadmaude

Maude is an all-around adventurous and sporty mountain chick who also has her own brand. Since I went to school for fashion design, I feel as though there is plenty of artistry in designing wearables, and I love the simple style of hers. If you want some winter items to keep you warm, her shop is the place to go.

3. Bri Moore Creative

My Fave Product: Leopard Snoid Hood

Insta: @brimoorecreative

Bri sews and hand-stitches all the prettiness onto her headwear just over the mountains from where I live. She’s always adding unique touches to items to make them more special than something that’s mass-produced. Her stuff sells out quickly when she drops it, so make sure to follow her to get your hands on some.

4. Anna & Piotr Angiel “Angiels Art”

My Fave Product: Three Sisters Winter DIY Embroidery Kit

Insta: @angiels_art

These two are a couple that creates stunning mountain landscape embroidery. The natural scenes that they stitch have such wonderful color palettes, and the best part is that they offer DIY kits to try it yourself!

5. Haley Badenhop

My Fave Product: Skier Neck Gaiter

Insta: @haleybhop

Hey, it’s me! This season I decided to focus on adding some products to my shop this year that I really love. I can’t wait to see the mugs in some of your homes, my prints on your walls, and the neck gaiters on all of you skiing:) See you on the slopes!

6. Lauren Wallace “Modern Yarn”

My Fave Product: Fogged Mountains Tapestry

Insta: @modernyarn

Typically we think of canvas or framed art for walls, but what about yarn? Lauren creates dip-dyed yarn wall pieces and I absolutely love the calm feeling they evoke. These works are something that could definitely take a room in your house to the next level.

7. Lauren Wzorek Earl

My Fave Product: Stained Glass Mountain Mirror

Insta: @szkloglass

Usually, stained glass only makes me think about church windows, but people are modernizing it in SUCH a cool way these days! I love Lauren’s work and the approach she takes to glass and mirrors, and I’m completely obsessed with her Modern Stained Glass Nativity Set!

8. Jessica Oldfield “Ollie Lou”

My Fave Product: Nature Scenes Tufted Rug Wall Hangings

Insta: @ollieloudesigns

Tufted rugs are ridiculously cute and I love the bright and simplistic style that Jess uses in her work. She even offers Punch Needle Kits so you can make something similar yourself, and I’m all about giving gifts that allow all of us to try new things!

9. Cheyenne Mallo Pottery

My Fave Product: Typographic Hiking Trail Water Bottle

Insta: @cheyennemallo

Beautiful pottery always catches my attention and I love the attention to detail Cheyenne and Zac give to their work. They hand-make and fire clay items with topographic designs on top. It’s so fun to look through their items to see topography and hiking trails that you might be familiar with. Everything they make is such a fun statement piece!

10. Rachel Pohl

My Fave Product: The Cirque Yoga Mat

Insta: @rachel.pohl.art

Rachel puts her stunning paintings onto products that inspire the adventure in all of us. The colors she chooses are always beautiful and she’s always coming out with new goods, so it’s fun to follow along and check in with what she’s up to often!

Okay, I could go on and on but I’m going to stop there so that you can get to shopping! Happy Holidays!!

P.S. Leave a comment if there is someone I missed that you think belongs on the list so we can go check them out, too!
