MURAL TIP #10 | Ideas for Easy & Fun Wall Murals

Creating exciting murals doesn’t have to be a super detailed process, often more simplified murals are more eye-catching. This is great news for beginner muralists (actually all muralists) because they are a simple way to get a lot of practice without putting a ton of effort into designing. Try out one of these ideas for easy and fun murals that you can create for your own home or for a client project.

Geometric Patterns

Patterns are an amazing way to create a bold mural - shapes like diamonds, circles, or stars all translate well as bold designs. Beware, using shapes can be difficult because of the need to make them all perfect in order to create a good pattern, although painters’ tape and stencils can help with that which brings us to our next idea.

Stencils

Using stencils is often an overlooked hack for creating murals, but when used correctly, they can help speed up the process and create interesting effects. You can easily create your own stencils using cardstock paper or cardboard, or you can of course buy interesting ones as well.

Contrasting Colors

An easy hack for bright murals is to use two contrasting colors together. You can do something as simple as filling an entire wall with say, just orange and turquoise, one on the left and one on the right (do it diagonally if you want to get even fancier.)

Nature

Nature will never not be a great inspiration for art. Simply paint one extra large leaf of your favorite plant on your wall or a couple of leaves, and it can be a beautiful, eye-catching piece.

Line Work Pattern

A great idea for a bathroom is often a hand-drawn line art pattern. Something as simple as varying sizes of dots can combine to form an awesome pattern.

These 5 ideas should give you a great starting place for your next mural! If you’d like additional help, sign up below for my newsletter or check out my mural courses HERE.
